Program Spotlight: Camp In
| November 6, 2018
Most kids will attend a summer camp at some point during their childhood. For many children with cancer this is not an option due to their compromised immune systems and special medical considerations.
The goal of the Camp In Program is to bring the fun and enjoyment of camp directly to the inpatient setting. During Camp In’s typical activities would include making smore’s, playing games, participating in arts and crafts, and singing camp songs.
Through this program we are able to achieve the following objectives:
- Children with cancer in the hospital will have traditional recreational experiences and build friendships with others in similar circumstances.
- The program seeks to relieve stress and anxiety through playing, creating, and having childhood experiences they may typically miss out on.
- Children in the hospital will have the opportunity learn and build recreational coping skills.
