It was so great to welcome campers back to Camp KCA at the beautiful Camp Horsin’ Around site yesterday afternoon and we’ve had such a great first day!

After check-in yesterday, everyone got settled in and acquainted with new and old cabin friends. We enjoyed dinner before heading to the opening campfire; which included lots of skits, songs, celebrations, and of course- S’Mores! We also recognized our new campers (and volunteers) with bravery coins. 

After a restful night’s sleep, we began the morning with Polar Bear Swim before fueling up with breakfast. The morning was filled with campers catching their first fish of the week, archery, and starting Arts & Crafts projects!

The afternoon was busy with lots of swim time, hiking and exploring the creek, and an awesome visit from Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky. We got to meet the coolest red tailed hawk, eastern screech owl, and a Peregrine Falcon and learn all about them.

For dinner we were treated to an awesome Chicken Parmesan dish donated by Volare Italian Ristorante and Chef Josh Moore (you may recognize him from Top Chef!). It was SO good and we truly appreciate all they do! 

After taking our cabin photos, our evening activity was campwide Bingo and everyone had a blast!  Stay tuned for more updates each night from Camp KCA!
